Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of MerlionMinds (the "Platform"), operated from Singapore. By creating an account or booking a lesson you agree to these Terms.

1. The Platform

MerlionMinds is a marketplace that connects students and parents ("Students") with independent private tutors ("Tutors"). MerlionMinds is not the employer of any Tutor and does not provide tutoring services directly. Tutors are responsible for the content, quality, and conduct of their lessons.

2. Accounts

• You must be 18+ to register, or have parent/guardian consent.
• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• Tutors must provide accurate qualifications and may be asked to verify them.

3. Bookings & payments

• Trial lessons are charged as a one-off payment when the tutor accepts the booking.
• Recurring packages are billed monthly via Stripe subscription.
• MerlionMinds collects a commission on each lesson (15% Free tier, 5% TutorPlus). See Plans.
• Stripe payment processing fees apply separately.

4. Cancellations & refunds

• Students may cancel ≥ 24h before lesson start for a full refund.
• Cancellations < 24h before start are non-refundable; the lesson is paid to the tutor.
• If a tutor no-shows or cancels, the student receives a full refund OR a make-up lesson with the same tutor (student's choice).
• Recurring packages may be paused or cancelled at any time; the change applies to the next billing cycle.

5. Tutor payouts

Tutor earnings are released 24 hours after a lesson is marked complete (the refund window), minus commission. Payouts require a verified Stripe Connect account linked by the tutor.

6. Acceptable use

• No off-platform circumvention: arranging to pay tutors outside MerlionMinds for bookings initially made through the Platform is prohibited.
• No abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful conduct.
• No sharing of accounts or impersonation.

7. Content & messaging

Messages, reviews, and profile content you submit may be visible to other users or moderated by MerlionMinds. You grant us a limited licence to display this content on the Platform.

8. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. MerlionMinds does not guarantee specific academic results.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Singapore law, MerlionMinds' aggregate liability is limited to the fees paid by you to MerlionMinds in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
